“Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.” (1 Timothy 6:17 NLT)
#1 Trust the Lord as Your Provider.
Worry is the result of living as if it all depends upon you. That kind of excessive anxiety is more akin to living as if there is no God (atheism) than true faith in Christ. “Your attitude toward money actually reveals your attitude toward God Himself.” (Derek Prince, God’s Plan for Your Money)
- “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33 NLT)
- “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NIV)
#2 Ask the Lord for His Help.
- “You do not have, because you do not ask God.” (James 4:2 NIV)
- “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7 NIV)
- “You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.” (Deuteronomy 8:17-18 NIV)
#3 Honor the Lord with Your Wealth.
- “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10 NIV)
- “You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the LORD Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” (Malachi 3:9-10 NIV)
- “The Lord demands fairness in every business deal.” (Proverbs 16:11 Living)
Tell your money where to go! “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity.” (Proverbs 21:5 NLT) Do you have a spending plan? Have you set financial goals? Do you have a workable budget? You need to grasp what you OWN, what you OWE, what you EARN, and where it GOES. “Riches can disappear fast . . . so watch your business interests closely.” (Proverbs 27:23 Living) Are you wisely managing your time, talent, and treasure?
